Elie Fruchter

I began studying as a classical pianist when I was seven years old, and I received further training between 1987 and 1991 at the London College of Music with Raphael Terroni and John Lill.

Between 1992 and 1994, I trained as a music therapist at The Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre in London and subsequently worked there as both a therapist and tutor until I moved to Totnes in 2005.  I have run evening courses and workshops in clinical improvisation and have helped people to prepare for the practical auditions to full-time music therapy courses.

As a teacher and as a music therapist, I have worked in both mainstream and special education as well as in mental health, with individuals and with groups.

In concert, I have appeared as a piano soloist and accompanist for singers and instrumentalists.  I am a member of the improvisation group Half Moon Assemblage with Lona Kozik and Sam Richards and have performed with them in different parts of the south west.  In recent years, I have appeared most often with fellow pianist Lona Kozik in our piano duo 4Hands.
