About Us

4Hands formed in 2006 at the Dartington International Summer School.

We specialise in performing 20th-century music, with a current emphasis on early French modernism.

Their programme of the music, writings and film of Erik Satie, Like a Nightingale with Toothache, has played around south Devon to audience acclaim, and they recently further developed their interest in music and film in their programme The Mysterious Kiss in the Eye, premiered at the Totnes Festival in August, 2012.  They are currently adding the Poulenc Two Pianos Concerto to their repertoire.

Elie Fruchter and Lona Kozik met and formed a friendship over the Poulenc Sonata for Four Hands. They quickly discovered an affinity in timing and phrasing that seemed to mirror their personal affinity.  Soon they were developing multi-media programmes of music by French composers, particularly the work of Erik Satie.
